A new pop punk band from Manila has emerged. This is STAIRCASE, with their debut track ‘Turncoat’, the first single from their upcoming EP ‘You Never Saw It Coming’. Jump around to this.
We had a quick chat with Staircase’s frontman Jarley Adrian Duano (former Behind All Plans), and guitarist Kurt Patrick Galvez (former Capturing Scenes)
Finite Fam: How did Staircase start?
Kurt: It started in July 2018 when me & the former vocalist planned to form a band with a goal to create an EP album. We then contacted Wilbert(guitarist) which has been the record producer on our previous band for a long time and Jords(bassist) which has been my bandmate for other bands that we’ve played before. We started right away recording & writing songs for the EP even without a drummer but along the way for some personal reasons our original vocalist left and that’s the time we contacted Jarley which is also a former bandmate of mine to take on the vocal duties he then introduced Rchie to the band to complete the band line up for the drum duties.
Finite Fam: Tell us about the inspiration behind ‘Turncoat’. What inspired its lyrics?
Jarley: ‘Turncoat’ is all about friends and the issues that most friendships are facing, but at the end of the day forgiveness and the bond that has been made is the most important.
Finite Fam: What’s in store for Staircase in the near future?
Jarley: To release more songs/music videos and to engage with more people by playing shows around the Philippines and hopefully worldwide. We are also planning to produce band merch, but connecting with more people through music and helping them with what they’re going through is our main goal.
