Have you watched the movie “500 Days of Summer“? If you have, well, alternative pop-punk quintet LUNARLIGHTS are here to help us remember all about it with their new single “Kay Dalas“, a track that talks about being intensely yet hopelessly in love with someone.

Frontman Jose Gaspar comments on the creation of their new song here:
Co-wrote “Kay Dalas” with Mark, our former keyboard player. He played me a demo he made, and I really took a liking to the chord progression of the chorus. So I took it home, re-arranged the whole song except for the chorus, and brought it to band practice. The rest of the guys added their individual parts then we recorded the final version at Tower of Doom.
As to the lyrics, I was re-watching this film called “500 Days of Summer” one time and I kinda based the lyrics from Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character in the movie, Tom Hansen, a hopeless romantic, a believer of true love and a stand-up guy, but sadly didn’t end up with “The Girl”. Kaya may bittersweet na feels yung kanta. Despite sunny yung vibe and masaya yung tunog, bigo naman yung storyteller kasi hindi niya, or hindi pa rin niya, nakuha yung gusto niyang happy ending (That’s why the song has this bittersweet feeling. Despite being a fun songs with a sunny vibe, the storyteller still falls short because he never, or will never get the happy ending he wants.).
