Interview: JUNO talks about his new EP ‘Chronospheres’

JUNO or  Juliano Nico Roxas just released his debut EP ‘Chronospheres‘ and our team got an exclusive interview this amazing upcoming artist.

JUNO

Finite: Can you please tell us the name behind JUNO and what kind of music do you play?

JUNO: JUNO is just a chopped up version of my first name “Juliano” JU-lia-NO. I mostly make hip hop music using samples to create this neo-soul, RnB-ish blend. I’m not really sure what genre my music falls under.

Finite: What’s the inspiration behind Chronospheres?

JUNO: I really wanted to capture the atmosphere of Manila specifically the “in-between” when the city sleeps. Imagine you just got out of a bar, overtime, or a one night stand and it’s 2 am, that silence you experience as you wait for a cab. You feel the cold city air a little bit cleaner because there are no cars around. It feels like you are stuck in time, left alone with your thoughts.

Finite: Can you please tell us the writing and recording process for Chronospheres?

JUNO: I usually start by looking for a sample online something jazzy or groovy, something I can move my feet to. Then I make some edits to it until I find what I’m looking for. Then I plug in my mic and start spitting out verses. If I like what I said I write it down on a notepad. I don’t pre-write lyrics most of the time. I go by what I feel when hearing the instrumentals. I find it more intuitive that way, and I learn how to use slangs and accents creatively in my music. It is like having a conversation with myself.

Finite: Lastly, what’s in store for JUNO after this newly released EP?

JUNO: I always wondered what would it be like to perform in a gig, but we know that’s not gonna happen anytime soon. I’m just going to continue making music and uploading them online hoping people can relate to and understand my work.
