Imagine killing yourself and a whole lot of people in the name of god.
Deathcore band from Manila, Fragments just released their new single ‘in the name of…’. In this interview, Niko Cezar (Fragments’ frontman) takes us behind the lyrics, inspiration, song writing process and what’s in store for Fragments.
Finite: Hi Fragments. Please tell us about your new single “in the name of…”.
Niko: The new single is called In The Name Of... this was the first song that the band has ever written in 2017. The song has groovy verses and chunky breakdowns and loud screaming.
Finite: What was the inspiration behind it?
Niko: Lyrical inspiration was taken from my own point of view or take on what was happening in the middle east, how this war on terror is happening and how religion is being used as a front to declare war (ever since this religion system was established to control and let people obey or else they’ll go to hell and experience eternal damnation) and kill a lot of people. Imagine killing yourself and a whole lot of people in the name of god.
Finite: How does the songwriting work primarily on this new song?
Niko: We start with guitar riffs c/o Jason and Carl followed by Felix and Dunn for bass lines and drum beats afterwards we add other elements such as synths / sound effects / guns and explosions to have that additional flavor lastly is vocals which we record at tower of doom but for the totality of our materials. We pretty much produce the songs by ourselves because Carl is our sound engineer whom mix and masters all of our songs.
Finite: Can we expect more releases from Fragments this year?
Niko: Yes there will be more songs and music videos coming.
