ICYMI: Trivium are back; tease new album “What The Dead Men Say”

The Florida-based thrash-metalcore quartet are back with their new single, “Catasthropist” from their upcoming album “What The Dead Men Say”, to be released on April 24, 2020.

This album comes as a highly-awaited follow up to their critically-aclaimed 2017 release “The Sin And The Sentence” which contained their song “Betrayer” which was nominated at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for Best Metal Performance.

The band started teasing the new single and album starting on February 20; posting cryptic captions (supposedly lyrics) and bleak images and teasers of a misty forest with mysterious masked figures.

On February 27, the band finally revealed and released their new single together with a music video for it. The band also announced their new album and it’s release date.

From left to right: Alex Bent (drums), Corey Beaulieu (guitars and backing vocals), Matt Heafy (main vocals and guitars), and Paolo Gregoletto (bass and backing vocals).

While it is still too early to judge the sound of the new album based on the single, “Catasthropist” sounds quite promising; it’s the signature Trivium sound which they perfectly crafted in “The Sin And The Sentence” with a much larger melodical influence that can be drawn from their 2014 release “Silence In The Snow”.

While many fans have been skeptical as to how Trivium will top their previous album, if “Catasthropist” were anything, it’s a hopeful promise from Trivium to deliver another album worthy of acclaim and once again push technical musical barriers which they started with in “The Sin and The Sentence” and just proves that they are still at the top of their game and continue to be one of the best metal bands out there right now.
