Like your metalcore atmospheric, low-key symphonic, and high-key infused with death metal and synths? Yes? Then the new Currents album is for you.
Angry and emotional, “The Way It Ends” is the follow-up to the band’s debut full-length “The Place I Feel Safest“. Prior to the record’s release, the band released four singles; namely, “Poverty of Self“, “Second Skin“, “A Flag To Wave“, and “Monsters“
It is a record that is so melodic yet so heavy at the same time; heart-wrenching yet also hard-hitting and offers a masterful transition between these elements throughout the whole album.
If you want a record that takes you through one emotional ride, then you have to listen to this one.
Along with the release of the album, the band released a short statement regarding the creation of the record, the current events happening all over the world, and their decision to release the album in spite of that:
“When writing, recording and conceptualizing this record over the course of 2019, we never could have imagined the events leading up to today. In this time of confusion, anger & disappointment, it is important that we all take time to reflect on the part we’ve played in the state of our world right now; but to also take solace in the love & kinship of those around us, while looking toward the future with promise & positivity.
With that being said, there was talk of pushing this record back; but we felt it would be dishonest to the nature of our band and to our fans & friends. There is no better time to connect with those we love and those who share common interests & goals. Now is the time to push through adversity and be consumed by things that excite us & give us hope. ‘The Way it Ends’ represents our ambition & excitement for a time when all of this darkness is behind us. This record has been our everything since its inception and we are unbelievably excited to share it with you today. Before we leave the void, we must face it head on…
Welcome to ‘The Way it Ends.’”
