Alternative rock band from Pasig CIty, Cifra recently dropped their debut single called ‘Paalam’.

Hi Cifra. Please tell us about your debut single “Paalam”

“Paalam” was written almost a year ago. Around November 2018. Well, basically it’s a sad song about longing to a someone special, begging that someone special back, and betrayal.

What was the inspiration behind it?

Actually it came out by accident. Alexis, our former guitarist, was just playing a random riff, and it sounded good for a sad song! So we’ve decided to make a song out of it, and here it is!

How does the songwriting work primarily on this song?

Alec, our bassist, wrote most of the lyrics and the melody of the song. While Trisha, our vocalist, added some to make the song better. The intrumentals, from intro, guitar solo, and to outro we’re done by the rest of the band. It was really a collective effort!
The song underwent a lot of revisions before we’ve arrived with this one, because we always have the freedom to express our thoughts and suggestions on the song. We just keep trying out stuff for the song until we find out the best suit for it. To add, we are also occupied by our day jobs that’s why the songwriting process was a bit hard and slow for us, but hey, here we are after almost a year!

Can we expect more releases from Cifra this year?

Yes, of course! We already had three original songs in line. Our second song is almost complete, but still, we’re not satisified with it. So the next challenge would be is to finalize this song, and hopefully, we can record and release this before the year ends!
