Punks goes pop with the release of East Capri‘s latest single, an electrifying cover of an Ariana Grande favourite, “Positions“. The Australian alt-rock outfit meld their heavy roots with pop sensibility, culminating in an impressively unique rendition of a modern classic. Mixed, mastered and recorded in-house by guitarist Jackson Deasy of Dark Polar Collective, the trio pay homage to one of Grande’s biggest hits by mirroring monster vocal acrobatics and maintaining the elements that make “Positions” a pop banger, while also showcasing their heavy-inspired identity.
With its bright and highly styled aesthetics, East Capri step out of their comfort zone with the accompanying clip. The music video is dripping with personality as the band explore sexual expression and lighthearted humour, which combined makes for a fun-filled watch.
After the warm welcome received from the release of their debut EP ‘Wake n Repeat‘, East Capri make way for a new chapter with intent to broaden the possibilities of their creativity while honouring their foundations. Vocalist Eden Cartwright explains, “We’re a band that doesn’t want our listeners to get too comfortable with our sound. We love to push the boundaries of the genres we find ourselves writing and incorporating new flavours and sounds into it.”
