Tigers Jaw Announce Highly-Anticipated New Album

After a lot of time spent waiting for more music from the Pennsylvania four-piece, Tigers Jaw fans can finally rejoice. Yesterday, the band finally announced their upcoming record, I Won’t Care How You Remember Me, which will be released on March 5, 2021. The album will be the band’s sixth full-length release and will be the first since they signed to Hopeless Records in late June.

Along with the announcement of the album, the band also released a new track entitled Cat’s Cradle. While the song is very reminiscent of the band’s previous work, it builds on their previous sound in a way that fans, both new and old, are sure to enjoy. The song was written entirely by lead vocalist/keyboardist Brianna Collins and she says that it is about friendships and relationships that have failed in her life due to lack of effort from one, or both parties.

“Cat’s Cradle is about the realization that no matter how much love, effort and consideration you put into a friendship, sometimes it just isn’t enough to make it work,” Collins said. She goes on to talk about how even though it can be difficult to be upfront with those you care about, it is better to do so than be passive aggressive or just entirely avoid the problems that exist. “Confrontation can be really challenging, especially when you’re worried about how what you feel might make someone else feel, and I have the tendency to suppress my own concerns and apologize first. With this song I wanted to acknowledge my own thoughts and emotions without feeling bad for having them.”

Given the meaning of the song, you would expect the sound of it to be somewhat somber in nature. However, that is far from the case with Collins’ enchanting vocals harmonizing perfectly with the upbeat instrumentals. The vibe of the song further reinforces the fact that confrontation shouldn’t be a taboo subject and therefore, it shouldn’t be funereal. The buoyancy in the song shows that even if someone’s companionship isn’t right for you, you can cut those people out and still move on with the best things and people in your life by your side.

I Won’t Care How You Remember Me is available for pre-order on the band’s website and the music video for Cat’s Cradle is now available on YouTube as well as all streaming platforms.
