Manila’s very own progressive metal veterans Orca are back with a brand-new track that is sure to resonate with the hearts of many.
“Spirit Breaker” is the second single from Orca‘s upcoming 12-track album “The Invitation“, set to be released by the end of this year and is the follow-up to the band’s two EP’s “Creation” and “Engender“. The band plans to release a new single every month until the album’s release.
A strong follow-up to their atmospheric previous release “The Invitation (Prologue)“, the new single explores the band’s diverse, signature progressive metalcore side while dealing with the topic of depression; a theme, along with the human psyche, that will be common throughout their upcoming album inspired by different personal experiences.
You are invited to witness “Spirit Breaker” through the visually-stunning lyric video below:
Read vocalist Zoren Fernandez‘s statement on the single below:
“Depression is dark, heavy, painful and terrifying. Inflicting physical pain and even taking your own life, you think, would be much better, that the pain will stop and everything will be alright again. Instead, depression seems to go to your very soul, affecting everything in its path.
Dead inside. Numb. Perhaps the worst part of it is that you remember when you actually felt something before and the contrast between then and now just makes the pain even worse. Spirit Breaker is a passage that opens up the first chapter of our 12-track album, The Invitation, a collection of first hand experiences of life’s pain and suffering that we all share as human beings.”
