Conformist is a “post apocalyptic thrash grind punk” band from Rizal. The band recently released their new EP called Predatory with two tracks: Predatory, & Void (live at Mow’s Bar).
The EP was supposed to be just a single and a part of a “larger” release but since it’s ECQ already, we didn’t have the time to record other songs and then we realized that we also have a live recording of the song Void (from our self-titled EP) so we decided to just release a two-song EP.
Void was recorded by Raphael Pulgar of Beast Jesus during our set last December 2017 for the Manila leg of The Saddest Landscape SEA tour. The song Predatory, on the other hand, was supposed to be part of the self-titled EP released in April 2018 and recorded during the same session but we were not satisfied with how it sounded and all during that time so we decided to leave it out for our next release.
Listening to it again after two years, it sounded different in a good way for some reason so we released it. The said song is basically about people thinking that objectifying people is just normal and its like, its in the “genes” and we can’t do something about it even though we have evolved the largest brain (in proportion to our body) in the animal kingdom.
The song Void is about finding meaning amidst the chaos of existence, it could be buying a house, paying taxes, waking up, drinking a cup of coffee in the morning, laughing, crying, etc.
