Trivium are back to tell “What The Dead Men Say”.

On April 24, Trivium released their ninth album, “What The Dead Men Say“; awaited by so many after the huge success of their critically-acclaimed previous release, “The Sin And The Sentence“; an album widely-regarded by many as the band’s magnum opus.

Prior to the release of the album, the band put out four singles: “Catastrophist“, “What The Dead Men Say“, “Amongst the Shadows & the Stones“, and “Bleed Into Me“. These four songs had fans widely speculating what direction the band was taking for this album with many agreeing that the overall sound of the songs heard so far are a call back to the band’s previous albums intertwined with the core sound of “The Sin And The Sentence“.

While most people will go into this album with “The Sin And The Sentence” at the back of their minds, my advice would be: DON’T.

If you’re a fan of the band’s constantly evolving sound throughout their entire career, this album is for you. However, it is only proper to tell you that while that may be the case, what sets it apart from their previous album is that on first listen, you know it’s going to be an album that has to grow on you. It’s not “The Sin And The Sentence” that immediately sticks. Make no mistake though, “What The Dead Men Say” is still a good album. One simply has to take an open mind with them as they listen to it.

If one were to sum up what this new album is, it’s Trivium throughout the years embodied into one record; carefully-crafted and integrated into every song with each one giving something for everyone. Whatever era of the band you are a fan of, this album has it. This is Trivium.
