Progressive metalcore act PARALLEL HORIZONS from Hong Kong is back with a lyric video made by Clarence Fajardo of Lostthreads and Labyrinth Productions for their brand-new single ‘Refractions’.
The song is about people ignoring repeated warnings about things that are actually within our power to change. People who can go about their regular daily lives while those around them are suffering. The political and humanitarian crisis in Hong Kong is definitely part of our inspiration for this song. Most of our anger in the past few months have been from this. It is also the reason why we chose to release this song. But it is not exclusively that.
The music itself was also influenced by the ever-worsening conditions of the planet that we live on (for humans at least). The exploitation of the limited resources we have and the reluctance to change because of the potential loss of profits.
Ultimately, we hope everyone would start paying attention to the world and be aware of everything that affects us as a species. Living just to survive is the ultimate joke for a species so proud of our intellect.
