Muntinlupa’s metalcore band, I Fall, I Rise dropped new single ‘Ascendancy’ another track from their upcoming debut album under Tower of Doom. Our team is lucky to get in touch with their frontman, Mr. Aries Villasis who shares some information about their new single and more.

Finite: Hi I Fall, I Rise. Please tell us about your new single “Ascendancy”.

Aries: I think there’s no better way to define what we’re trying to sound like. But it’s more of the emotional side that we put into our music. We love experimenting a lot! I mean from the chugs to the delays and the narratives. Ascendancy is more than just the title of a song it’s what we see on a day to day basis. We all do our best to survive in this world. It may be good, may be evil. But we all have our reasons.

Finite: What was the inspiration behind it?

Aries: When you see “Ascend” it basically means the state of being in a higher position. By norm it is the ascend of good from evil. Our perspective or standpoint lies basically between the balance of good and evil. They are unionized and have rules that they must follow. No one is allowed to win too much. So in reality we strive for the best and repeat the process whether the outcome may be good or evil.

Finite: How does the songwriting work primarily on this new song?

Aries: Honestly, It’s a very long process! With Mikel, Mark and then Aries filling in for the vocals. We’ve totally redefined the sound of Ascendancy. The song’s almost about 2 years old! And finally, It’s out! We could never imagine that you guys would be hearing it today! It’s still how we see the world. We have our ups and downs in song writing. So maybe there’s a reason why it took this long to come out.

Finite: What can we expect from I Fall, I Rise this year?

Aries: Great great things! We’ve actually finished recording the album and hopefully! We’ll release it mid year. It’s going to be 10 tracks of awesomeness! Finite: Any advice to all aspiring musicians?

Aries: Just be yourself. Don’t let anyone define who you are. It doesn’t matter what type of music you play as long as you love and embrace it. Basta tol wala kang naaapi, naaapakan at nasasaktang tao. Tuloy mo lang! Sabi nga sa Avengers. Whatever it takes! Peace out! IFIR~
